Description
This listing is for two rare vintage items from the old CONNAUGHT HOTEL in London, England and they will be of special interest to anyone who has been a guest at that legendary landmark. The book is THE CONNAUGHT STORY written by PETER KING and published in 1997. It describes how the hotel developed and maintained its style for over a century, has 160 pages and numerous photographs and illustrations in both color and black and white. Much is said about the incomparable Restaurant and the Grill Room and members of the dedicated staff who made THE CONNAUGHT the pride of London innkeeping. There is a handwritten message dated 7 August, 2000 to a Mrs. Brown - perhaps a guest? - from the staff but no other marks in this beautiful book. Both the hard cover book and the dust jacket are in excellent condition. The second item is a metallised bone china trinket dish made by WEDGWOOD for the hotel. It is oval in shape and measures 5 inches by 3 1/2 inches. The name of the hotel appears above pretty flowers and the word LONDON appears below the flowers. The same flowers decorate the edge which has a gold rim. The charming collectible is in like new condition.
